History of Kettle Corn

Americans consume 54 quarts per man, woman and child each year. Approximately 70 percent of that is purchased at shows in popped form, and eaten at home.

Kettle Corn pops up almost any place associated with fun, food and fitness -- movie theaters, sporting events, entertainment arenas, amusement parks, and other recreational centers. Kids love kettle corn because it tastes good and adults favor kettle corn for its nutritional value.

So, who exactly invented Kettle Corn ? Good question. One thing is for sure, it have been around for decades and only grows in popularity. Sources say that farmers and cowboys of the old Mid-west used to make their own version of kettle corn. After a day of harvest, they would throw rendered fat into a cast iron pot sitting over a fire. When the fat was hot, they’d throw in some corn kernels and whatever sweetener available. Cooking methods may have changed over the years, but kettle corn still has  that same slightly sweet, slightly salty taste we are all addicted too.
